Re/Think Ministry Confession
The theological convictions that anchor our church planting and discipleship movements across the unreached frontier.
The Scriptures
2 Timothy 3:16We believe the Bible to be the inspired, the only infallible, authoritative Word of God. It is not merely a collection of religious writings but God's own revelation to humanity, without error in what it teaches, and the final authority for what we believe and how we live.
The Trinity
Matthew 28:19We believe that there is one God, eternally existent in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. These three are not three gods, nor three modes of one God, but one God in three distinct, co-eternal persons, united in nature and purpose.
The Person of Christ
John 1:1,14; 1 Cor 15:3-4We believe in the deity of our Lord Jesus Christ — that He is fully God — and in His virgin birth, His sinless life, His miracles, His vicarious and atoning death through His shed blood, His bodily resurrection, His ascension to the right hand of the Father, and His personal return in power and glory. Jesus is not merely a good teacher or a prophet; He is God the Son, who took on human flesh, lived without sin, died in the place of sinners to satisfy God’s justice, rose bodily from the grave, and will one day return visibly to the earth.
The Necessity of Regeneration
John 3:3-7We believe that for the salvation of lost and sinful people, regeneration by the Holy Spirit is absolutely essential. No one is born a Christian, and no amount of good works or moral effort can make a person right with God. A person must be spiritually reborn by the Holy Spirit’s own work, not their own.
The Present Ministry of the Holy Spirit
Galatians 5:16-25We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit, by whose indwelling the Christian is enabled to live a godly life. The Spirit does not merely save a person and then leave; He lives within every believer, guiding, convicting, and empowering them to grow in obedience and Christlike character for the rest of their life.
The Resurrection of All People
John 5:28-29We believe in the resurrection of both the saved and the lost — those who are saved to the resurrection of life, and those who are lost to the resurrection of damnation. Every human being who has ever lived will one day be raised bodily and stand before God: believers to eternal life in His presence, and unbelievers to eternal separation from Him.
The Unity of Believers
Ephesians 4:4-6We believe in the spiritual unity of believers in our Lord Jesus Christ. Christians across every nation, background, and denomination who trust in Jesus are joined together as one body, regardless of the visible differences that might otherwise divide them.
